Acronis Plesk 9.2.1 bugs

Product: Plesk for Linux/Unix
Operating System details: Ubuntu 8.04
Plesk Version: 9.2.1

First of all, the Plesk acronis module in Plesk 9.2.1 could not create a full backup.  It would run for a minute and then stop, but, you could create a full backup with the command line acronis tools.

There is a Parallels KB article about this and how to “fix” it:

However, this introduced another problem, which, after days of trying to get Parallels to look into their support team have not said that “the developers are looking into it”.

The new problem is that scheduled Acronis jobs keep on saying:

Error: another atismodbackupmng process is running!
TrueImage backup task #1

And does not create a full backup.  This issue has been ongoing over a month now and counting.

Plesk 9.2.1 for Linux Acronis module bug

You would never believe it,  a bug in the Plesk control panel.  When trying to backup via the Acronis module in Plesk it backs up about 100MB of data and then stops… however, if you run a full backup from the command line like:

> trueimagecmd –create –partition:1-3 –progress:on –filename:/mnt/backup/root.full.01.06.2009.tib

it works fine.

Turns out it’s a bug in Plesk 9.0, which, is meant to be fixed after Plesk 9.2.  The fix can be found at:

Wouldn’t things be boring if they didn’t keep us on our toes like this.
